A broad spectrum multipurpose skin ointment with aloevera advantages.
QUINODERM+ Product Description
This is a non-greasy, non-staining broad spectrum multi-purpose cream.
Composition:
- Clobetasol Propionate BP 0.05% w/w
- Miconazole Nitrate IP 2% w/w
- Neomice Sulphate IP 0.5% w/w
- Glycine IP 3% w/w
- Cetrimide IP 0.6% w/w
All the ingredients are mixed in a cream base.
- About Clobetasol (0.05% W/W)
Uses:
This is used in the treatment of skin and allergic disorders. This ingredient is also being used for the treatment of oral lichen planus.
Mechanism of action:
This belongs to the class of steroids like corticosteroids and works by suppressing or limiting the action of certain chemicals in our body that are causing inflammation.
Common side effects:
- Muscle disorders
- Electrolyte imbalance
- Altered bone growth
- Skin scar
- Application site irritation
- Redistribution/accumulation of body fat
- Bone degradation
- Itching
- Behavioural changes
- Burning sensation
- Increased blood pressure
- Increased glucose level in blood
- Cataract
- Increased risk of infection
- About Miconazole (2% W/W)
Uses:
This ingredient is commonly used to treat fungal infections.
Mechanism of action:
This would work by stopping the growth of fungus by preventing them from making a protective covering.
- About Neomycin (0.5% W/W)
Uses:
This is commonly used in the treatment of bacterial infections.
Mechanism of action:
This is antibiotic and works by killing the bacteria by inhibiting the production of essential proteins. These proteins are required by the bacteria to perform their vital functions.
Common side effects:
- Allergic reaction
- Itching
- Skin redness
- Eye infection
- Skin rash
- Fever
Conditions Treated:
- Mixed infections
- Eczema
- Candidiasis
- Ringworm infections
- Primary psoriasis
- Atopic dermatitis
Warnings and Precautions:
This should not be used in the following conditions:
- Acne
- Athlete’s foot
- Ringworm
- Candida skin infections
- Rosacea
- Perioral dermatitis
- Infected skin
- Itchy skin around the genitals or back passage
- Itchy skin which is not inflamed
- Nappy rash
- Plaque psoriasis
Caution should be observed while applying the cream on larger portions of the body for a long time (say few weeks or months). This cream should not be used if the patient is allergic to Clobetasol Propionate or other ingredients. This cream should not be applied in children below one year.
Expert Advice:
If the skin disorder doesn’t improve even after two to four weeks of application, the patient is advised to consult a physician.
Safety Measures:
The cream may be unsafe for the pregnant women. However, the benefits from the cream might be acceptable in spite of the risk.
The cream is probably safer to use during lactation and breastfeeding. Please consult your physician.
